Dr Ik-Kyung Jang is a full Professor Medicine at Harvard Medical School, also holding the title of the Harvard Chair ‘Allan and Gill Gray Professor of Medicine’ at Harvard Medical School. He has been a member of the nomination committee for the ‘Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine’ for 5 years including the last four consecutive years. In 2022 he received the ‘Distinguished Scientist Award’ in clinical domain from the American College of Cardiology.
For the past 25 years, Dr Jang has pioneered in vivo vascular biology research using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in patients with coronary artery disease. He performed the OCT procedure for the first time in the world. More than 40 fellows from 10 different countries were trained in Dr Jang’s laboratory during the past 10 years. He has published over 350 papers and edited three OCT textbooks.
