Dr. Kern is the former Chief of Cardiology, VA Long Beach, and a Professor of Medicine, at Univ Calif Irvine. He continues to perform and teach cardiac catheterization and PCI regionally, nationally, and internationally at scientific meetings and symposiums.
Dr. Kern is ABIM Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology, a past president and master fellow of the SCAI. He is an instructor for the annual ACCF/SCAI Interventional Cardiology Board Review program.
His research includes intravascular physiology, ultrasound and OCT imaging, and cardiovascular hemodynamics. He is the clinical editor of The Cath Lab Digest, and author/editor of “Kern's Cardiac Catheterization Handbook” 7th edition, and “The Interventional Cardiac Cath Handbook, 5th ed”. These books are among the most widely used textbooks both nationally and internationally to train physicians.
