Michael A. Kutcher, MD, FACC, FSCAI is an Emeritus Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC. He is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA. He did his Internal Medicine and Residency at St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center, New York City and Cardiology Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA. The last six months of fellowship, he was one of the first American fellows to train directly under Dr. Andreas Gruentzig. In July of 1981 he was recruited to start the Interventional Cardiology program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (WFBMC). Dr. Kutcher is the author or co-author of over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He continues to be academically involved in cardiogenic shock projects and assessing quality improvement metrics in the merger of Atrium Health and Wake Forest Baptist Health.
