Dr. Fischell is Professor of Medicine at Michigan State Univ., Director of Cardiovascular Research and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at the Ascension Borgess Heart Institute. He received his M.D. from Cornell University, his internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and then his cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowship at Stanford University. He was on the faculty at Stanford for five years, and then Director of interventional cardiology at Vanderbilt University from 1992-1996. Dr. Fischell is an inventor with more than 100 patents related to medical devices. He has presented more than 300 papers, and authored more than 150 publications and more than 30 book chapters. He has numerous awards: the Thorax Center Andreas Gruntzig Award, CRT Innovation Award (2015); Fellow of National Academy of Inventors (2018); Master SCAI (2022).
