Dr. Tarek Helmy is a Professor and Chief of Cardiology at LSU School of Medicine, Ochsner LSU health center, Shreveport LA. His previous academic faculty affiliations include Emory University School of Medicine, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, as well as Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where he served as the Director of the J. Gerard Mudd cardiac catheterization laboratory, and Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program. He completed his interventional fellowship from New England medical Center, Tufts University. He was on faculty at Emory University School of Medicine, then at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. His interests are complex coronary intervention, CTO, and structural heart disease. His research interest involves coronary physiology.
