An expert in general cardiology, lipidology, metabolism, chronic disease effects on dyslipidemia and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University, Dr. Nehal Mehta was the inaugural recipient of the Lasker Clinical Scholar Award in 2012 which brought him to the National Institutes of Health. He served as Section Chief of Inflammation and Cardiometabolic Diseases and was the founding Principal Investigator of the largest cohort study examining psoriasis impacts on cardiometabolic diseases from 2012-2022. He has published several papers on how psoriasis impacts cardiometabolic health. Dr. Mehta's research have moved epidemiological observations into translational studies in humans to better understand how systemic inflammation affects atherosclerosis. He has completed over a dozen clinical trials in humans studying the impact of therapies on atherosclerosis progression.
