Javier Escaned MD PhD is Head of the Interventional Cardiology Section and Associate Professor at Hospital Clinico San Carlos IDISSC in Madrid (Spain). He has over 30 years of clinical experience in interventional cardiology, and has worked in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands and Spain. His areas of research and clinical expertise include coronary imaging and physiology, CTO and complex PCI, atherosclerosis and acute coronary syndromes, stents and bioresorbable scaffolds. He is Deputy Editor of European Heart Journal and editor of the textbooks “Coronary Stenosis. Imaging, Structure and Physiology” and "Physiological Assessment of Coronary Stenoses and the Microcirculation". Recent studies as principal investigator include DEFINE FLAIR, SYNTAX II and ReVEAL.
